Colorado Update…

..or should I say, NORTH POLE UPDATE!! LOLZ!!1 Because of the snow, get it?? And also because of Christmas.

Anyhoo, we are currently in Crested Butte, CO (HOMETOWN OF HEIDI MONTAG FROM “THE HILLS” !!!! STAR TRAXX!! I feel amazed just walking down the street here, just because I knew she walked down this exact SAME sidewalk at some point in her life!! And took in the same breathtaking views as I am right now! It’s almost as if… dare I say it? It’s almost as if I’m living Heidi Montag’s life! I only wish I could tell my future self to avoid dating the biggest douche to ever walk the earth, which would lead to me making the most embarrassing music video EVER made, but alas, I am not a time traveler, unfortunately.

Moving right along, I’ve compiled a short quiz entitled “How do you know when you’re in the worst physical shape of your life”. Here’s the question:
Q: How do you know when you’re in the worst physical shape of your life?
A: When you’re gasping for air all night because you’re 8,500 feet above sea level and somehow even being in a completely STATIONARY state is just too difficult for the ol’ heart to handle. Really? I can’t even sleep without being out of breath? I think this is a new low for me *scarfs down some more waffle fries*

On a more serious note (I know you don’t take my declining health seriously, jerks) this chunk of tour really has been a blast so far. We started off in Salt Lake City, then went to Grand Junction (or “Junk Town” as the locals proudly call it), and stayed with our buddy Cy, who gave us hot pockets until our failing hearts were content, and let us crash at his new place, as well as take us out to the best, most authentic greasy spoon ever. The show turned out to be rad as well, starting out in an 8 degree garage and turning into a much warmer dance party. Best quote of the night: “This is the best thing that’s ever happened to Grand Junction”. This quote was heard by the Music Fairy of Conquests, Hopes and Dreams, who elevated Finn Riggins immediately to celebrity N*Sync status. It’s as easy as that, kids!

From Junk Town, we went to Denver, then drove after the show to the amazing Mike and Mariah’s house in Boulder where we home based for 4-ish nights. We drove up to Nederland for an epic night of Thanksgiving Dinner take 2, amazing margaritas, great convo, and boogie time with Anne, Forrest and friends. We ended up creeping back through the canyon to Boulder at 3:30 am in a snow storm listening to Christmas music (which is the only kind of music ever worth listening to while on the brink of death) and finally made it to bed at 5-ish, in true tour fashion. That was a great night, and we’re so grateful for everyone who contributed their company, amazing food dishes, and dancing abilities to make it a night to remember!

Post Ned, Finn Riggins had a show in Boulder at a coffee shop called the Laughing Goat, then we ventured on to Greeley for a show at The Venue at Higher Grounds. That was a pretty epic drive, probably MORE epic than the drive from Nederland to Boulder that fateful night. We’re talking about some white out action! We made it to Crested Butte yesterday evening safe and sound, and had a great lasagna dinner with some friends Heidi and Bob who we are staying with while we’re here. I’ve been inwardly struggling for the past 20 minutes or so of writing this post, because I’m debating whether to share a very special (is special the right word?) gift that Heidi and Bob shared with us last night. I’ll post the trailer to this documentary entitled “The Dancing Outlaw” and you can decide for yourself whether or not you want to watch it (of course you want to watch it!) I’m currently downloading the soundtrack…..just sayin’.

Well I guess that’s all I have for now. But what else more could you want?

Happy early Christmahanakwanzakah everyone!

love,
Rachael
